You just need to get to know us! If you do not know any of our current members, please check out our calendar on the website and come by one of our events or meetings, or stop by our float at a parade and introduce yourself. We are always ready to meet new friends!
The Krewe of Blues is compromised of up to 125 members dedicated to supporting the Pensacola Community and to having fun at Mardi Gras, Fiesta and other community events. Members must be over the age of 21. New members must be nominated by a current member in good standing.
New member acceptance is determined on the basis of how many membership slots we have available and the proposed new member's date of application. We are looking for members who will be active participants in our activities, take leadership roles in our organization, and enjoy the festivities! The membership selection process is administered by the membership committee in accordance with our bylaws and membership is not final until Board approval. So, come check us out and become part of the best Krewe in Pensacola!
We have several committees that make this Krewe the best around. Please take a look and see how you can add your talents to our teams. All members are expected to join and actively participate on at least one of these committees:
Charity Committee - The Charity Committee shall conceive, coordinate and execute fund raising strategies and events in support of selected charities.
Entertainment Committee - The Entertainment Committee shall coordinate and execute all special events and functions, and develop creative and enjoyable activities for the Krewe both during and outside of Mardi Gras season.
Finance Committee - The Finance Committee shall prepare a tentative budget for the coming year at an amount to be set by the Board of Directors.
Float Committee - The Float Committee shall be responsible for the acquisition, design, creation, maintenance and operation of all Krewe floats and shall be responsible for securing parade spaces and the delivery and operation of the floats at all parade venues.
Fund Raising Committee - The Fund raising Committee shall conceive, coordinate and execute fund raising strategies and events to raise money in support of the Krewe.
Marketing and Merchandising Committee - The Marketing and Merchandising Committee shall conceive, coordinate and execute plans for marketing the Krewe and Krewe functions. The committee shall oversee and administer merchandise including the selection, design, procurement and sale of all Krewe merchandise.
Membership Committee - The Board of Directors shall serve as the membership committee. Although it is the responsibility of all Krewe members to actively seek out new potential members, the membership committee is charged with the responsibility of recruitment strategy development and implementation.
Nominating, Election & Bylaws Committee - The Nominating and Election Committee shall present names of suitable nominees for each elected office of the organization at the annual meeting. The committee shall be responsible for preparing, distributing and tabulating ballots and announcing election winners. This committee also develops, administers and manages the annual Court of the Magic Tones selection and coronation process.
About Krewe Of Blues
The first organizational meeting of the krewe, was January 18, 2010. A scant one month later, on February 13, 2010, the newly-formed krewe joined in on the 2010 Mardi Gras revelry with 7 members, 2 dressed in Blues Brothers’ garb tossing beads from the roof of what was then Blazzues Blues & Jazz Club during the Pensacola Grand Mardi Gras Parade.
